Create a quilt depicting your online life with the NOQers. Can be any combination of piecing, applique, and quilting. The quilt should be wallhanging size, between 18x18" and 45x45". You must use the challenge fabric in the quilt in some manner. The quilt must also include metalic thread in at least part of the quilting.
Zooey painted some wonderful challenge fabric, and 18 members of the guild took the challenge. Thanks to the efforts of Gypsy, who holds a mean whip, 14 of those got finished. Gypsy then talked to Kim DeCoste, the Special Exihibits Coordinator for Houston's International Quilt Festival, and told him about this guild and our challenge. The idea so intrigued Mr. DeCoste that he proposed a special online exhibit to the board, and it was accepted. The quilts are currently in Houston, waiting for the premier showing on November 7, 1996.
If you attend the Houston show, be sure to take a look at some of the work by members of your new guild. Stop back to this area in December to see pictures of these quilts! And be sure to take the 1996-97 challenge. How many seasons are there, anyway?
