This year we'll be doing things a little differently -- which seems to fit into the theme. A great fabric from Quilt For A Cure has been selected from the collection at Seams Like Yesterday (www.seamslikeyesterday.com). Dee Lawrence, the owner, has offered us a great price on this fabric, as well as coordinating fabrics. Every quilter participating in this challenge must purchase 1/2 yard of the challenge fabric. Anything else used on the quilt, from fabric to embellishments, is strictly up to the individual quilter's imagination.

To get the fabric, go to Seams Like Yesterday, and enter the store. Browse around, and marvel at the amazing stock of reproduction fabrics, fun fabrics, patterns,... Oh, excuse me. I lost myself in the store. Near the bottom of the store is a link for the NOQ Challenge fabric. You'll find coordinates under the Quilt for a Cure if you're interested. Please put a note in the comments section that this is for the NOQ Challenge.

The Official Rules:

 

  • Each quilter starts with a half yard of the challenge fabric
  • Quilts must be wall hanging size, between 72" and 180" when all sides are added together.
  • Quilts don't have to be square.
  • Quilts can be made using any method of pieced, applique, whole cloth, machine, hand, etc.
  • Each person signing up needs to use some of the challenge fabric in the quilt someplace.
  • Completion deadline is October 1, 2002.
  • Pictures of finished quilts must be submitted to challenge@noqers.org
  • The following definition from the Oxford Paperback Dictionary should be kept in mind:

    difference

    /"dfrns/ noun
    1 being different or unlike.
    2 degree of this.
    3 way in which things differ; thing which distinguishes.
    4 quantity by which amounts differ.
    5 remainder after subtraction.
    6 disagreement. make a (or all the, no, etc.) difference have significant (or very significant, no, etc.) effect. with a difference having new or unusual feature.
