To thank Gypsy (Mary Jo Hodge) for all her hard work getting the NOQers into the 1996 Houston International Quilt Expo, the members of the guild secretly made this quilt for her. The main fabric is a hand painted red done by zooey. Each of us created a friendship star block using stash fabric for the points and signing a square of the handpaint for the center. Zooey and Bobbin set the top, Bobbin quilted it, and GranRox added the final border and bound the quilt. The biggest surprise is that we kept it a secret so when the NOQers at Houston presented it to Gypsy, she was totally surprised. I understand there were a few tears, including mine when I read about the presentation.
