Greetings! Hope you have been enjoying the first part of the tour. This is such a glorious time of year and Iam so glad to be able to share it with you. When I was little my grandmother would take me for walks in the woods. We had fun looking at the many different flowers, leaves and other growing things. As I grew older I learned how to collect, press and save things. So this is what we will do with your fabrics now. Personally I don't like working with yardages over 2 yards and cut it into sections based on what I need plus a couple extra inches for truing up the fabric. But you do what works best for you.
The following is what we are collecting:
Color 1 (focus):
6 (14) strips at 4 1/2"
5 (10) strips at 5 1/4"
2 (4) strips at 6 1/2" *
6 (9) strips at 4 1/2"
Color 2:
6 (14) strips at 1 1/2"
9 (20) strips at 2"
Color 3:
6 (14) strips at 1 1/2"
9 (20) strips at 2"
6 (8) strips at 1 1/2"
A good suggestion would be to label all your strip 'lots' with the size and number of strips so it will be easy to locate what you will need later.
This is a lot of work so we will meet again soon to start putting together our clues.
* Most rulers are only 6", except for the larger square rulers. What I do is to use both my long 6" ruler and the shorter 6" ruler to cut anything over 6" wide. I align up along the cut edge of the fabric with the shorter ruler for the measurement over 6", then gently place the long cutting ruler next to the shorter one and cut my strip. Hope this is clear enough for you to understand.
